Reponse to "Letters from a Birmingham Jail"

The article "Letters from a Birmingham Jail" written by Martin Luther King Jr. was a great article even though it was long. In the article you could tell how upset he was when he talked about the reason why African Americans should have their freedom. I agree with him because isn't this suppose to be the land of the free? If that's the case then everybody no matter what their skin color is or what religion they are a part of should get guarantee the same respect and freedom. With every argument he talked about he had supporting evidence to help him rest his case. This article made me realize how grateful i am to be living in the time period that i am living in now because i would not have been able to deal with all of the name calling and brutality that they dealt with in their time period. When Martin Luther King Jr. talked about some of the things that African Americans had to go through for example seeing their family members being murdered, tortured, and or raped, he painted a visual image with his words so that whoever is reading this letter can know why it is so important that things need to change. "Letters from a Birmingham Jail" also made me think about how many white people actually read this considering that it is so long. But like i said earlier this is a great article written by Martin Luther King Jr. because he it showed how educated he was, he gave great examples, supporting evidence, and his arguments were understandable. Martin Luther King Jr. was truely one of America's greatest leaders of all time.
